MARDI GRAS EVENTS IN THE TWIN CITIES
Monroe-West Monroe, LA— The Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade will take place on Saturday, February 18, as well as several other festive events. The full schedule of the day includes the Krewe of Janus Children’s Parade, the 11th Annual Krewe of Paws Pet Parade, the Jester Jog, and the Downtown River Jam Mardi Gras Party.
The Krewe of Janus Children’s Mardi Gras Parade will be at Pecanland Mall, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Registration for the parade begins at 9:00 in the mall’s Center Court area. Children up to age 10 are invited to walk or ride a float in the parade. Trophies will be awarded in 3 divisions, and there will be a grand prize trophy for best entry. The admission for this event is free.
The 11th Annual Krewe of Paws Pet Parade will take place in Antique Alley at 1:30 p.m. It is $20 to register for the parade plus an additional $5 for each pet.
The Jester Jog runs through Antique Alley and other parts of West Monroe starting at 3:30 p.m.
Registration for the race ranges from $22 to $40.
The Downtown River Jam Mardi Gras Party starts at 5:00 p.m. and sits right on the parade route in the Old Coca-Cola Building on Walnut Street. Nathan and the Zydeco Cha-Chas will provide live music, alongside food, a full bar, and free beer samplings by Choice Brands. Admission for this event is $10.
The Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade starts at 6 p.m., and rolls through the downtown areas of Monroe and West Monroe. This year’s theme is “Around the World with Janus.” Floats and throws will be decorated with inspiration from other countries.
