Discover Monroe-West Monroe Hosts National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 National Track and Field Championships May 16-18
Monroe, LA – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 1 National Track and Field Championships will be held May 16-18 at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) Brown Stadium. This event has an estimated economic impact of over $468,200 and over 850 athletes, 125 coaches, and hundreds of family members to Ouachita Parish.
“We are excited to host the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championships for Track & Field. This is our first time hosting this prestigious event in Monroe-West Monroe. Our board saw the investment in upgrades at ULM track as an avenue to bring economic impact through events to our community. With over 850 athletes competing from throughout the United States, our businesses have a great opportunity to showcase our southern hospitality to the competitors, coaches, families, and friends. We are grateful for our track community volunteers to help us conduct the full three-day event. The public is invited to come and watch the national level competition on the beautiful campus of ULM,” said Alana Cooper, Discover Monroe-West Monroe President/CEO.

Thursday, May 16th
Decathlon – 9 am
Field Events - 11 am
Running Events – 5 pm
Friday, May 17th
Decathlon – 9 am
Field Events – 11 am
Running Events – 1 pm
Saturday, May 18
Men’s & Women’s Field events – 10 am
Final Day of Championship Running – 12 pm
Men’s & Women’s Champion Crowning – 4:30 pm after the last race
The NJCAA is the governing body of intercollegiate athletics for two-year colleges. As such, its programs are designed to meet the unique needs of a diverse group of student-athletes.

Brown Stadium is an excellent venue for these athletes to chase their dream of being national champions,” said Scott Bruscato, Discover Monroe-West Monroe Executive Vice President of Sales.
