Crappie Masters Tournament Brings $80,000 to Ouachita Parish
Monroe-West Monroe, LA – The Crappie Masters Ouachita River Tournament was held July 17-
18 in Monroe, Louisiana. Anglers from across the country competed for the grand prize of
$10,000.
There were 13 states represented at the Ouachita River Tournament. Out of state anglers
represented 70.2% of the anglers in the tournament. The estimated economic impact for the tournament is $80,498.
“It was great to welcome over 100 anglers to fish on the Ouachita River for the Crappie
Masters regional. We take pride in calling northeast Louisiana “Sportsman Paradise” and are
always excited when visitors get to experience our natural resources,” Scott Bruscato,
Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau Senior Vice President of Sales said.
Jason Thomas and Shannon Porter from Monroe-West Monroe took home the grand prize of
$10,000 and qualified for the Crappie Masters National Championship Tournament. The
championship tournament will be held in Monroe-West Monroe on September 23-26.
