Christmas on the River 2016
Monroe-West Monroe, LA- The annual Christmas on the River celebration officially kicks off on Monday, Nov. 21. The light displays sprinkled throughout the parish will be lit at 5 p.m. This year features brand new displays and locations, but all the same holiday entertainment of years past. The lights will continue to shine until Saturday, Dec. 31.
Antique Alley’s Christmas lights will dance again, and the Tree-Jays make their return to the Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum. Themed displays will be placed throughout Downtown Monroe & West Monroe for visitors to enjoy. People can walk, drive, or catch a wagon ride through the area to view the twinkling decorations.
Throwback Christmas is the newest spectacle for this year. Located in front of the Warehouse Restaurant on Olive Street in Monroe, the set features letters to Santa written by children from past decades. Christmas songs from each era will play on loop for a mix of classic and current festive tunes.
The holiday calendar is full of excitement including fireworks, ballet performances, musical entertainment, holiday plays, outdoor movies, and a magical bike parade.
Many activities occur throughout the season including great shopping opportunities, ice skating at the Santa’s Christmas Village, Christmas at the Biedenharn, and more.
