2024 NJCAA Track & Field Division 1 National Championships Nominated for SportsTravel Award

Monroe- West Monroe, LA– The National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Track & Field Division 1 National Championships hosted by Discover Monroe-West Monroe have been nominated for a SportsTravel Award in the Best Collegiate Sports Event Category. The NJCAA Track and Field Division 1 National Championships, held May 16-18 at the University of Louisiana Monroe’s Brown Stadium, led to a significant economic impact of $1,125,014.97 for Ouachita parish. The event saw 838 athletes and their families, filling 2,440 hotel room nights and driving increased business to restaurants, shops, and local attractions.

This event was the first NJCAA National Championship held in Ouachita Parish. The championship consisted of 58 schools from 21 states across the country competing for the chance at a national title. The championship took place over 3 days, with athletes participating in a variety of events.

The event’s success was made possible through the support of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, the City of Monroe, Monroe Fire Department, and volunteers, coordinated by Discover Monroe-West Monroe.

Winners of the 2024 SportsTravel Awards will be announced at the TEAMS’24 conference in Anaheim, CA on September 25th.
