Restoration Park
The beautiful 70-acre forest and wetlands that make up Restoration Park are the reason why this spot is so perfect for birding. Walk out onto the deck overlooks to possibly see the elegant snowy egret flying above the lake. You might even find the greater yellow-legs shorebird hopping through the shallow water.
Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge
The peaceful 4,500 acre stretch of lake, swamp, bottomland hardwoods, mixed pine and hardwood uplands of Black Bayou Lake offer the best views for birding. Peek through the bird blind or walk across the wildlife pier for a chance to spot a great blue heron grazing the water or the double-crested cormorant hunting for fish. Gaze into the cypress and tupelo trees above you and you may even see our national bird, the bald eagle, resting on a branch.
Kiroli Park
With 160 acres of park made up of forested areas, nature trails, fishing ponds, and beautifully serene gardens, there is no wonder as to why Kiroli Park is one of the top places in MWM to go birding. Catch sight of the bright royal blue colors of the eastern bluebird or the brilliant pink bill of the black-bellied whistling duck while taking a peaceful stroll through the nature trails and gardens.
Lazarre Park
Launch your boat or kayak into the Ouachita River at Lazarre Park for a day full of bird watching fun. While paddling peacefully across the water, you may be able to spot the rare and colorful painted bunting perched on a limb or catch a glimpse of the spotted sandpiper hopping along the water's edge.
