Spring Break in Monroe-West Monroe
Put down the books and hit the town! Spring break is here and that means taking a well-deserved break from studying. But that doesn’t mean you have to sleep the days away. There are so many fun things to do in Monroe-West Monroe during your Spring Break!
Get on the Water!
There’s no better place to get on the water than in Monroe-West Monroe. Rent a kayak from H2Go Paddle and find the perfect spot to explore. You can paddle the tranquil waters of Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Reserve. Or flow down the Bayou Desiard right through ULM’s campus. You might even spot our very own blue heron while you're on the water.
Explore a Museum!
Monroe-West Monroe has a rich culture of arts and history. You can dive into the past at The Northeast Louisiana Delta African American Heritage Museum or the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum to learn about what shaped the twin cities. If you are an art-lover, you can explore the Masur Museum of Art to see many permanent and temporary exhibitions. You can even visit the Biedenharn Museums and Gardens to learn about the history of the first bottler of Coca-Cola and tour the beautiful ELSong Gardens.
Family Fun!
While the kids are out of school, it’s the best time to enjoy some family time. Take them to the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo to check out the new tiger! Spend the day at Smiles Park at Kiroli or one of the many other parks and walking trails. Let your kids imagination run wild at the Northeast Louisiana Children's Museum. Or you can cool down with some custard at Eskamoe’s with a North Pole or a Sundae.
Eat Local!
No need to live off cafeteria food for the week when there are over 100 local restaurants to grab a bite from. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee stop or a place to have dinner with friends, Monroe-West Monroe has so many places to dine. You can find crawfish in season at several different spots and try local favorites like Coney Island hotdogs and Parish duck wraps.
Nightlife!
Since you can sleep in, you can also stay out late! You’ll find something to do every night in Monroe-West Monroe. Join Enoch’s Irish Pub and Cafe for Karaoke Night, every Wednesday from 8-11.
