Louisiana State Games: Showcasing Talent and Growing Opportunities in Monroe-West Monroe
Each year, athletes from across Louisiana come together in Monroe-West Monroe to compete in the Louisiana State Games, a multi-sport event that serves as a qualifier for the State Games of America.
With 17 sports to choose from, competitors have the chance to test their skills on a state level and earn a spot at the national event, set to take place July 28 - August 2, 2026, in State College, PA.
Since Discover Monroe-West Monroe began hosting the Louisiana State Games in 2017, the games have grown tremendously. What started with 10 sports has now expanded to 17, with plans for continued growth. This year, volleyball makes its debut, attracting 40 teams - a testament to the event’s potential.
Beyond the competition, the Louisiana State Games serve a larger purpose: showcasing Monroe-West Monroe’s top-notch sports facilities and boosting tourism during off-peak months. Scott Bruscato, Executive VP of Discover Monroe-West Monroe, shares, “Watching these athletes compete, knowing they have a chance to advance to the national stage, is what makes this event so special.
